Our first event on 2 February 2010 consisted of a charity concert at the Palau de la Música featuring the Valencian choir Cambra Amalthea which was organised in cooperation with the NGO ARTS, cultura y desarrollo (culture and development). ARTS was set up about a year ago with the goal to foster sustainable development in Mali through the use of culture and cultural events.

The concert bore the title “20 years of playing music” marking Amalthea’s 20th anniversary. Numerous key artists and choirs contributed to this unique event, including Los Pequeños Cantores from Valencia, the choirs “Navarro Reverter” from Valencia and “Cantarella Jovenalla” from Rafelbunyol; Jesús Salvador “Chapi” (percussion), Juan de la Rubia (organ), Marisol Boullosa (soprano), Luis Vicente (baritone) and the renowned conductors Simon Carrington, co-foundor of the King’s Singers and former professor at the University of Yale, and √âva Kollár, Hungarian expert in choir music. They interpreted “Five Flower Songs” by Britten, “Pange Lingua” by Kodaly and “L’Homme Armé” by the Valencian composer and conductor David Gálvez Pintado who was also present.

The benefits of the concert were used to support various projects with homeless children in Bamako (Mali).

Other partner organisations of the event were the Palau de la Música which provided the premises for free as well as the Instituto Internacional de Música Ibérica.
